Marcovaldo, a coffeeshop/bookstore italiano

blogDSCF8510« Oh this place looks nice and it’s Italian ! Andiamo ? » While we were strolling in le Marais last Saturday, we’ve discovered by chance Marcovaldo, an Italian coffee shop/bookstore.

I love so much these spots that combine my 2 passions : reading and eating (yes eating can be a passion :p).blogDSCF8507New French and Italian books are available to be read or for purchase.

Anyway let’s talk about Marcovaldo (character of the Italian writer Italo Calvino). This café was opened by 3 Italian friends who came to Paris to provide a different vision on Italian culture. Here you can not only enjoy good organic Italian food with a book in your hand but you can also attend concerts, exhibitions, cooking classes and even Italian conversation workshops !blogDSCF8493

At the moment you can admire wall paintings made by the illustrator Hélène Gruénais known as Youloune and some photos by Italian contemporary artists. blogDSCF8496

I totally fell in love with the cosy atmosphere and the charm of the vintage decoration. Mi piace tantissimo these mismatched tables and chairs found in flea markets  and this piano used as a counter. blogDSCF8509blogDSCF8492blogDSCF8498We went during the weekend so we had a brunch. On the menu du jour (the fresh morning fruits and the vegetables are bought from small independent producers so the menu changes everyday) : fresh multi-grain wheat bread with organic butter and marmelade, chickpea puree with mint, prosciutto, mozzarella , leeks tarte tatin and salad. For drinks I had unlimited green organic tea and The Boyfriend had a coffee.blogDSCF8504 blogDSCF8499For dessert : a kiwi and strawberry tart with an Italian chantilly meringue.blogDSCF8511It really was good even though I’m not a huge fan or organic food. I was full without having to unbutton my pants. Perfect for my diet before summer.  ;)blogDSCF8506On top of that, the staff is very friendly which is so pleasant, especially here in Paris.blogDSCF8491In poche parole, if you wanna have a nice time eating and reading in a calm and cosy atmosphere, direzione Marcovaldo for a slice of dolce vita ! Venite ?
