Bucolic Paris #1 : la Cité des Fleurs

blogDSCF7386This private street in the middle of Paris is the perfect representation of bucolic Paris where it’s nice to stroll.

Are you craving for some moments of calm without leaving Paris ? Go to la Cité des Fleurs in the Epinettes district (17h arrondissement).  This street of 320 meters looks like a village. It’s closed to public traffic (even dogs are prohibited !) which allows you to stroll quietly and to admire the sumptuous private houses and hotels particuliers of various architecture.blogDSCF7394 blogDSCF7396 blogDSCF7390 blogDSCF7406 blogDSCF7407 blogDSCF7387You see that last stone house in neo-renaissance style ? There sat the falsified documents service of the national liberation movement, where all the members were shot by the Gestapo. blogDSCF7389

This is not only a residential area because apart from the houses there are also : a primary school, St Joseph des Epinettes parish church, St-Vincent de Paul religious community and a home for young workers. A true village inside the city !

Asides from this, many famous artists lived there like the impressionist painter Alfred Sisley and some others were even born here !  Catherine Deneuve and her sister came into the world in the Cité des Fleurs clinic !blogDSCF7400blogDSCF7413

How to get there ? La Cité des Fleurs connects  l’avenue de Clichy with la rue de la Jonquière, its entrance is located next to Brochan metro station (M13). Public access is possible between 7am and 7pm from Monday to Saturday and between 7am and 1pm on Saturdays and holidays. blogDSCF7411 blogDSCF7410 blogDSCF7403An urban miracle worth visiting !

You can see other Parisian bucolic strolls there. Happy strolling (I’m off to Nice :) !
